Hamburg gets an AFLE team, and fans get to name it

The AFLE has confirmed a Hamburg franchise for 2027. For now it's the Hamburg Football Team, and the city gets to pick the real name.

Hamburg is in the AFLE for 2027. The league said so this morning. For now the side is just called the Hamburg Football Team: from 5 to 20 November anyone can send in a name and a logo at hamburgfootballteam.com.

The people running it are already named. Tim Wetjen is CEO, Hauke Seger is general manager, and Marcus Herford is head coach.

The question that remains is the stadium. The AFLE says the home stadium will follow soon.

Hamburg is the league's home city, so a team there makes sense on paper. The naming competition is the interesting part, at least that is in public.
